In launching this platform, I have been reflecting on how life has been impacted and how being present in the now can support and strengthen the future. Looking forward and being hopeful opposed to feeling hopeless. We all have been experiencing the global pandemic which has caused an unpredicted shift in life as we knew it. I have been thinking what can I do to make a difference?
I have had my feet planted in the helping profession for more than 15 years supporting and servicing children, youth, adolescents, families, couples, and individuals. I have an extensive work history which is comprised of mental health, behavioral health, and eating disorders. I have worked in private practice, non-profit, for-profit, residential programs, grant funded, judicial and state agencies. Included in my training are various certifications in evidence-based treatment modalities and group work. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, the therapist in me knows that words must be accompanied by an action-do-step.
Being intentional requires one to make decisions and act on what is important to you. You have the power to gain insight and clarity about what you want to achieve which challenges you to be present. I have made a conscious decision to launch a platform to laugh, uplift, encourage, inform, and motivate helping others to live not exist. Change starts with accountability of self and holding others accountable for the way they treat you.
Many of my clients, business associates, acquaintances, friends, and family members are impacted by the many challenges we face daily including myself. I want you to have the freedom of being your best self and knowing it is OK! Adopt a freedom mindset by stepping out of your comfort zone, overcoming obstacles, and breaking generational curses. Cultivate a winner’s mindset that does not have a negative tape of self-defeating thoughts. Like you I am a mother, sister, aunt, friend, businesswoman and so much more still evolving.

About Teressa
A native of Laurel, MS, with big dreams to do more. Starting at a young age from youth ministry at Providence Baptist Church the dream continued once I transitioned to the metro Atlanta, GA area. The passion for working with children, youth, and adolescents flourish with each moment of volunteering with the youth of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Lawrenceville, GA, now currently extending this ministry to the Lighthouse Refuge Christian Church of Monroe, GA.
About 6 years ago the calling to counseling fell on my life. As I started to pursue my degree in psychology the desire to help people continued to grow. The will to help all people changed my BSN pursuit into a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. It did not stop there, I completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling at Capella University, where I met the visionary Keetece Freeman, LPC. Our vision was the same, the hopes of bringing resources to our youth and adolescents and information to the community at large about mental health and wellness. I currently provide skill building for youth and adolescents.
On a personal note, I would love for you to get to know me. A mother of three beautiful girls (Jasmin, Markyla, and Madison). A lover of music, one who really enjoys the culture of hair and urban fashion. Always up for a good walk or exercise. My weakness is FOOD, I love all types of food. I am a very active member of Lighthouse Refuge Christian Church, Monroe, GA, and Love GOD! I am hopeful that this podcast and Threads of 1 Needle will reach the hearts of the people, be an encouragement, and a resource to all.
